100 Consecutive Wins

The Seward HS girls beat Norris 45-31 this afternoon in the State Class B semifinals 45-31 and the opportunity to meet Beatrice tomorrow for the Championship. It was a hard fought game and not put away until the last few minutes. Beth brought the ball up the court as time ran out. She has started every one of the 100 wins going back to the first game of her freshman year. She has been the spark plug throughout her career and has a basketball scholarship to Ft. Hays in Kansas. It was not an easy game today with both sides having difficulty getting the ball to go down. Seward led 8-6 at the end of the 1st quarter; 15-10 at the half; 31-23 at the end of the 3rd and finally 45-31. Seward's scoring was a far cry from yesterday when they led McCook 57-17 at the half and finished 71-50. They will play Beatrice tomorrow who was a wild card selection for the State Tournament. They are in the Central Conference along with Seward. The two teams played earlier in the season with Seward winning 43-42 but the game was closer than the score indicates. They are a very good team. We will need to hit some 3's early and hold their All-State player Armstrong in check to win the Championship and keep the string in tact.
