Lunch Time

This picture was taken in the late summer of 1980.  We had moved back in late June to the farm east of Seward, NE that we had bought earlier in the year. I had taken the picture that includes (l-r) Elaine, Mother, Dad, Carolyn holding baby Julie. We had taken lunch out to Dad who was clipping the brome grass in a little pasture east of the house. Auctioneer Brother Don had bought the Ford tractor for us at one of his auctions down in the Syracuse area and had it delivered to us. Dad and Mother both seemed to really enjoy being out there. They were both in their 80's at the time and in generally good health.  Carolyn,  her husband Victor, and Julie had moved back to Seward from the Boone, North Carolina area just a month or two before we got back. We only had the farm for 9 years during which time I worked in Lincoln with the Nebraska Natural Resources Commission most of that time. We were always pleased that the folks both so enjoyed being out there while we were gone. They always found something that needed to be done.
