The Seward Kiwanis Kitones sang here this evening under the direction of Paul Bek. Paul retired as Middle School Principal and taught for a number of years. We enjoyed their singing, are always bored by Phil Wurst corny jokes that he works in to his announcing the songs, and are amused at Paul Beck's attempts to be a better Comedian than Phil. I helped lower the groups average age when I retired but it is still up in the 80's. Phil always likes to say "We're not all here" which was true with 2 or 3 missing, but it was still a good group with some of them not showing up on the picture. I didn't get to Kiwanis today so it was good to see them here
We got word this morning from Clementine that cousin Dick Olsen had died in Colorado. I sent her a message with our condolences and also sent this picture of some of us cousins as kids. I also sent it to Pat Grimes, our youngest cousin, who sent it on to all on the cousins mailing list. Dick and Bob were identical twins at the left end of the picture. Vivian and I are with our Mother at the right end. Lindsford is the boy in the middle in front of his mother. Bob died out in Idaho in 2006. Their mother Anna, at the left end of the picture, died in 1986. Her funeral was held at the Wood-Zabka Mortuary here in Seward, with Dick conducting the service. Following the funeral, Vivian had Dick, Bob and several of the cousins up to their house for a Patio meal and visit. Anna was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery in the Paul Barth Family plot.
