Goehner Visit

Ken Baldinger drove the small Seward County Transit Bus and took 8 of us from Brookdale on a tour of Goehner, NE this afternoon. This house is part of the Seward County Museum in Goehner. It was an old farm house, moved in, restored to it's original splendor and open for visitors. The other Museum buildings are next door including an old country school.  This next little building was build by the Goehner Grange back in the 1950's after winning 1st place in a National contest. It was built by Grange members with the cash prize paying for the material. It was used for several years after the Grange was dissolved by the Goehner Players for melodrama shows and now used as a place of worship. The United Church of Christ built this beautiful facility after their old Church building was destroyed by fire. We saw  corn up to 8"high, soybeans, and alfalfa cut and wind-rowed. We also drove past Seward County's only windcharger. It was a nice little "outing" in an air conditioned vehicle with 100 degree temperatures under sunny skies.
