A Complete Collection

This is a view of the Bookcase that must have been designed to hold the 100 USDA Agriculture Yearbooks published by the Department from 1884 through 1993. I began collecting them soon after starting to work for the Agency in 1948 and continued with eBay activity after Congress declared that the 1993 volume would be the last at a saving of $450,000. Through eBay and used bookstores, I continued to improve the quality of the collection.  By the mid-'30's titles became more specific such as "Soils and Men" and them moved to single words,  "Land", "Water" and "Grass".  "Trees" in 1949 sold 123,000 copies but declined to around 7,000 in later years thought the titles tried to capture a wider audience with "Living on a Few Acres" and "Gardening for Food and Fun". Son Jon has worked with the USDA Soil Conservation Service (SCS)/Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) for over 40 years and has indicated an interest in the collection. I would love to pass it along to him but he lives in Burke, Virginia and we are looking to get our house cleaned out and on the market. We are planning a December Auction and will hopefully get the house sold soon after. Our local Library may be interested in the collection and know the bookcase would sell well at the auction. We are finding the need to part with many things that were important to us which we just don't have room for in our current facilities.
