With WWII over in 1946, some of us young fellows decided to do some traveling. We borrowed Vivian's Model A Ford. Don Armstrong, Brother Don, Bub Wilkens and I set out for Yellowstone National Park. We went through the Bad Lands of SD, the Black Hills and on to Yellowstone. We had a tent and camping equipment along but it was used very little. Old Faithfull erupted on close to 60 minute intervals. The dozen or so cars that were there to see it just parked up-wind but near by the geyser. We had some car trouble on the way home but it got us started. We added Ed Pollack to our group and went to southern Missouri the next year and then to see the Cubs play the Cardinal and the White Sox play the Yankees all in Chicago. We were great friends over the years.
