Don's Story

Laurie was able to get into Don's computer and sent me some items from it. One item was a life story that he had written some 10 years ago. It filled 10 pages single spaced with small print. I learned quite a bit from it including the story of this picture. It was taken during the summer of 1965 while we were back in Nebraska from our home in Arlington, VA. Don was working for SCS and the farmer who owned the place made him a good deal on moving the family out there a few miles out of Syracuse and taking care of the horses for the rent. They were able to rent their big house in Syracuse out and enjoyed the profit. I'm not sure how long this arrangement went on until a tornado hit the farmstead. It destroyed some of the buildings and did damage to the house. Fortunately, no one was hurt. This prompted them to move back to their own home in Syracuse. This farmstead in located right along the highway and we are never sure which one it is as we drive by.  Now with knowing "the rest of the tornado story, we should be able to spot it".
