We had our "Summer Cookout" for the Mid-day meal here at Brookdale today. Elaine had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Harris at the Specialty Clinic this morning and missed most of the "fun" of eating in the windy outdoors. I was one of the last to set at our table and asked "If anyone could remember when we used to look forward to such Picnic Dinners?" Marv Taylor was the first to speak up and said, "Some of us still enjoy picnic dinners". But with the wind blowing as it was, it was challenging. Elaine got back about the same time I got back to our Apt. and Kay brought in a tray with her dinner. We both finished our meal at the Kitchen table.
We only received a half inch of rain last night with up to 9 &10 inches falling out in the Elwood, Lexington area west on Highway #81. It fell within a few hours and needless to say, they have local flooding problems. We are anticipating more rain tonight but nothing of that magnitude. Then, as I understand it, we are in for a period of hot, dry weather. I plan to watch the All-Star Baseball game tonight. If it goes into extra innings, a runner will be put on 2nd base to speed up the game.
