Special Band Concert

We are grateful to Ken for driving the Brookdale Bus to take several of us down to an outstanding Seward Municipal Band concert this evening. The weather was perfect and Col. Jerry Meyer introduced guests who will be part of a 1918 Vaudeville as General George Patton, General John Pershing, President Theodore Roosevelt and a WW I doughboy, and other 4th of July activities. We were saluted by General Pershing as we took out seats at the Bandshell. I had earlier told Jerry of my having spent 3-weeks at Harvard U. with General George Patton II, the 3-star tank commander in the Korean War. Jerry had these "notables" on lawn chairs and introduced them at the beginning of the concert. Prior to that he brought "General Patton" over to meet Elaine and I and to get a picture with him. We had a good visit and he was familiar with the course at Harvard I referred to. The concert was Directed by Dr. Andrew J. Schultz from Concordia and included a good mix of marches, polkas, and other great patriotic renditions. It was a great concert for the large crowd. Our bus driver commented on the way home that we are so fortunate to live in Seward and have access to these kind of events.
