Our move to the farm was very traumatic for most of us. Mother had to give up her electric appliances. Vivian and I had to adjust to Country School. It was a different life style but we made the adjustment, and it was the right move for all of us.(I think the right one was in 1935)

February 8, 1932
This was taken shortly before we moved to the Vrana family farm on this date (February 8, 1932). I am the "sloppy looking" one with my overcoat unbuttoned and my aviator cap on crooked. Sister Vivian and little Donnie are well attired. Aunt Ethel, Uncle Ralph, and Aunt Dorothy may have been at our house to help pack for the move. We are standing on the cave which was between the house and the outhouse. I suspect Dad was standing on the path between the two to take the picture. The background includes the Burlington Railroad and the Seward County Fair Grounds. Mother and Dad bought this place on West Moffitt Street a couple years after they were married in 1920. It included a 4-room house on 6 city lots. They continued to own the place and rented it until Hughes Brothers expanded production during WWII and bought the property. It is still very much a part of their storage area around the Plant which continues to expand.
