Elaine is Home

Elaine got checked out this afternoon and dismissed to come home about 2:30. This lady Doctor checked out her vitals and took her for a walk and was pleased with her progress. Another Doctor then came in with the final word and we questioned him on the cause of the problem. Though her symptoms were similar to a stroke or TIA he was satisfied to report that it was brought on with high blood pressure. They pulled up records of her visits with Dr. Hansen over the past couple years to help reach that conclusion. He also explained how the high BP must be brought down gradually over time. She got prescriptions for 2 new medications and will go back on "baby" aspirin for 21 days. We are to monitor her BP, 2-3 times per day. Carolyn walked over to a CVS Pharmacy and bought a monitor that works off the wrist. We have tried it out and seems to work much better that the one used up above the elbow. She received many Best Wishes at supper time and had a good visit with Dr. Vahle who stopped by. She talked to Janice, Verlon and Jon over the phone and has enjoyed being home. One of the nurses from Home Health Care that worked with me on Therapy called and will be coming tomorrow to get her started on it.
