Hughes House Progress

Carolyn came up after supper this evening and took me up to see the progress made today on their house. The floor was put down yesterday and all the framing that is shown was done today. It got up to 94 this afternoon which would have been pretty hot with the sun bearing down and high humidity. Carolyn has poured over the plans to where she knew just how everything was going to look, but for me, it looks much larger that I anticipated. The 9' ceilings give it a larger perspective and with all the framing done with 2 x 6's. I took this picture of some of the beams that are yet to be put it place. Years ago when better old lumber was available, 2 x 10's would have been used instead of these stronger 3-piece I-beams.
We were able to walk in through the front door step where a horse shoe was buried  during construction. One of the special features is being able to look right through the living area through  the windows showing the open area behind the house. They should be able to enjoy some beautiful Nebraska Sunsets. The bedrooms will be at the front part of the house with a big dining area and  nice living area. The floor of the big double garage looks good.
