Joyce (Flowerday) Althouse, RIP

Here is a picture of Joyce, Elaine's sister who died on 11/27/17. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 10:30am in the Utica, NE cemetery with Rev. Dale Lambert officiating. Here is the obituary as it appears on the Zabka Mortuary web site; <http://www.zabkafuneralhome.com/>
"Lola Joyce (Flowerday) Althouse was  born on July 8, 1919 in Seward County, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert and Flora (Koch) Flowerday and passed away on November 27, 2017 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 4 months, and 19 days. Joyce was  baptized and confirmed at Friedens Evangelical Church in Seward. She attended District 28 school and was a 1936 graduate of Seward High School. Joyce received her teachers Certificate from the University of Nebraska and taught at a couple of schools. Joyce also worked as a housekeeper and cook for the Althouse family, where she met her future husband Lester. Joyce was united in marriage to Lester William Althouse on May 17, 1940 at the Evangelical parsonage in Seward. They lived on a farm near Stromsburg before moving to a farm near Utica. Upon retirement, Joyce and Lester built a home and moved into Utica.
Joyce has been a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Utica and a former member of the Dorcas Society in Utica. She loved sewing, crafts, genealogy and traveling.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Flora Flowerday, her husband Lester in 1995, and her brothers, William A. Flowerday and Dale Flowerday.
Joyce is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and V.K."Tony" Vrana, Seward, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Joyce."
